Quick Shot SEQuickshot SE Wins SEMA Award

AMSOIL Quickshot SE is a premium fuel additive formulated to clean and restore optimal performance in small engine and powersports equipment fuel systems. It acts as a fuel stabilizer between uses and short-term storage and helps prevent damaging corrosion.  Its revolutionary formulation focuses on three major fuel-related issues common in small engine equipment: ethanol, water and dirty gasoline.

AMSOIL Quickshot SE is designed to keep water dispersed throughout the fuel tank, moving it out and decreasing the chance of ethanol separating from the gasoline. Moisture finding its way into gas tanks through condensation is dispersed in tiny molecules and safely moved out of the tank through the combustion chamber.  The lack of additives in today’s gasoline can cause fuel system gumming and varnish, creating deposits on critical components. AMSOIL Quickshot SE cleans hard to remove deposits on pistons, spark plugs, injectors, carburetors and other combustion chamber parts to maintain peak operating power.

AMSOIL Quickshot SE is recommended for use in all two-and four-stroke gasoline powered engines including motorcycles, snowmobiles, personal watercraft,  boats, ATV’s, edgers, tillers, mowers, snow blowers, chain saws, generators and farm and construction equipment.

Degraded fuel presents a major maintenance issue in small engines and powersports equipment. It can form varnish, gum and insoluble debris that clog carburetors, fuel injectors and fuel filters. Carbon buildup can form on the tops of pistons that leads to pre-ignition, rough idling and poor throttle response. Fuel-related problems are only expected to intensify in the coming years as the ethanol content in pump gasoline continues to increase.
AMSOIL Quickshot SE (AQS) is a premium fuel additive formulated to thoroughly clean and restore peak performance in small engine and powersports equipment fuel systems. It also stabilizes fuel between uses and during short-term storage periods. Its revolutionary technology focuses on three major fuel-related issues plaguing small engines and powersports equipment: ethanol, water and dirty pump gas.

Turbo Lag Challenges Of Turbo Charged Motorcycles

There is a category of people who just can’t live without speed. They need to have vehicles with great power to get the most from the driving process. Some people give preference to turbo-charged cars while others enjoy speed more on motorcycles than in a car. Motorcycles can develop great speeds. Driving them gives you much more adrenalin than driving in the car. Turbo charged motorcycles are for real automotive daredevils.

There are motorcycles that come turbo-charged from manufacturer. Thus, you do not have to install turbo chargers yourself as you can buy the motorcycle that already comes with it. About 20 years ago Yamaha produced a turbo-charged motorcycle. At first sight it was not that fast and was inferior to some competitive brands. But once that turbo kicked in, it became the best and the fastest. Though, as any other thing in the world it had some aspects that could bother.

One of those bothering things was a turbo lag. If you were not used to driving a vehicle with turbo lag, that could cause quite an inconvenience and complicate driving the motorcycle. It is much easier and more advisable to get acquainted with turbo lag in a car than on motorcycle. There are some specifics you are advised to master before you can drive a motorcycle with turbo power smoothly.

The turbo lag of Yamaha motorcycles lasted from two to four seconds. This means that when you give it the throttle you would have to wait for that extra boost to kick in for up to four seconds. Meanwhile, it would accelerate and the RPM would go up to redline. Not the best four seconds in your life! After this moment is over, you can really feel how powerful the motorcycle is and enjoy the speed. But each time you want to add more boost you would still experience unpleasant consequences of turbo lag.

If you drive the motorcycle on the straight road the driving process goes much smoother. You can run through the gears very fast. But this is not the case if you participate in the race in the mountains. Canyon runs create additional obstacles: uneven way, mountains around, complicated turns etc. Moreover, you would experience some difficulties due to the turbo lag. For example, in situation where you go for the corner fed in the throttle, the turbo would kick in and you would face two options: if you up-shift the speed would be over the limit; if you hit the breaks you would be out of the corner. Tough alternative! It would take quite a while to get used to this peculiarity of the turbo charged motorcycle. The clear conclusion is that turbo lag is not the best attribute of racing bikes.

The Concept Of Turbo Lag: Correct Understanding

Turbo charging has proved to have a lot of major advantages, but it is a common fact that even a slight doubtful issue can become a fly in ointment. That is just the case with the turbo lag. This issue is sure to be brought up in any turbo charging discussion. This is a major issue for most drivers. But the most important thing is to understand the concept of turbo lag correctly. Turbo lag is the time the turbo takes to spin fast enough to produce boost pressure.

The turbo lag problem dates back to the 80s when turbo chargers entered mass market and got many people want turbo vehicles. Such brands as Nissan and Mitsubishi launched turbo cars to satisfy the public demand for such vehicles. These were not what we presume by turbo cars today as they focused more on reliability and cost than on performance. Thus adding ‘Turbo’ to the name of the model was a smart marketing move not more.

These manufacturers did not only exploit the concept of ‘turbo’, but they also damaged it by bringing misunderstanding to the concept of ‘turbo lag’ due to making some wrong decisions. They manufactured turbocharged automobiles without intercoolers. This was done to reduce the cost of the cars. As a result there was nothing to cool high temperatures of the compressed air with. This increased the chances of detonation. To fight these drawbacks the manufacturers simply reduces the compression ratio of the engine. By doing so could they expect that the vehicle would preserve all its power? No!

Luckily, these vehicles were equipped with small turbos which made it possible to spool fast enough, but still the drawback was there and it affected the exhaust system. The scavenging ability decreased while reversion possibility increased. As a result the engine’s volumetric efficiency was reduced which consequently has lead to even less power and poor performance. Fortunately, manufacturers managed to eliminate these drawbacks by post pressure production. But even with a decreased compression ratio, reduced volumetric efficiency and high back pressure these turbo charged vehicles managed to make a statement after those couple of seconds when the turbo spooled up were over. This was a fair compensation for the drawbacks.

However, from those times on turbo technologies have been rapidly developing. Now it is possible to have it all: intercoolers, lowered temperatures produced by air compression without reducing the compression ratio and powerful vehicle with excellent performance. Besides, the problem of the back pressure has been also resolved by running a bit larger turbo that suits the exhaust system better. Well, all these innovations should put an end to eloquent discussions about turbo lag. It is still there, but it does not hinder the power or performance of the vehicle any more.

Long time ago car changed into not only a vehicle but also a luxury and entertainment object. Many car owners would like to have powerful sport car but not all of them can afford it. There is a way out – turbo kits. Those who are looking how to make their car a unique masterpiece, check out this site. Lots of info about performance parts and how to purchase them.
