Racers demand lower engine operating temperatures in order to achieve maximum efficiency and horsepower on the track, while the straight water coolant used by many racers opens engines up to damaging radiator and water pump corrosion. New AMSOIL Dominator® Coolant Boost (RDCB) provides racers and motorists with significantly lower engine operating temperatures, quicker engine warm-up times and advanced corrosion protection.

Dominator Coolant Boost is formulated with proprietary tiered surfactant technology, providing quick and effective heat transfer inside radiator and cylinder heads, which results in reduced operating temperatures, more efficient operation, increased horsepower and significantly reduced engine warm-up times in cold weather. Coolant Boost also contains a robust mixture of corrosion inhibitors that protect the radiator, heater core, water pump, cylinder heads, engine block and intake manifold from the damaging effects of corrosion.

Temperature Reduction Dynamometer Test

To test the temperature reduction capabilities of Dominator Coolant Boost, dyno tests were performed on a Chevy 350 cubic inch engine with an aluminum block and cylinder heads. Running the test with both straight water and water treated with Coolant Boost, the engine was operated at 4,500 rpm until coolant temperature stabilized.

Straight Water 221°F
Water with Coolant Boost 202°F
Test results show water treated with Coolant Boost provided a 19°F temperature reduction.

Aluminum Corrosion Test

The Aluminum Corrosion Test (ASTM D-4340) measures the corrosion protection properties of Dominator Coolant Boost in modern automobile and high-performance race engines with aluminum cylinder heads. A cast aluminum puck was heated to 275°F at 28 PSI and exposed to the test coolant mixture for one week. Weight loss of less than 1.0 mg is required to pass the test.

Coolant Mixture Weight Loss
Straight Water 3.97 mg/cm2/wk
Water with Coolant Boost 0.14 mg/cm2/wk
Test results show water treated with Coolant Boost easily passed the Aluminum Corrosion Test.

Metal Corrosion Test
The Metal Corrosion Test (ASTM D-2570) measures corrosion protection properties in automotive cooling systems. Using ASTM corrosive water designed to simulate hard and corrosive water in degraded coolant, six metal coupons constructed of the most common metals in automotive cooling systems were exposed to the test coolant mixture at 190°F. The coolant was maintained at a temperature and flow rate equivalent to the operating conditions seen in most passenger vehicles. Corrosive weight loss suffered during the test determines the additive’s corrosion protection properties.image

Recommendations
Dominator Coolant Boost is recommended with both racing applications using straight water coolant and automotive applications using 50/50 coolant/water mixtures.

Directions: With engine off and cool, make sure cooling system is filled with selected coolant. Shake bottle and pour calculated amount of Coolant Boost into radiator. Start engine, turn heat on high and run for 15 minutes. Do NOT use distilled water unless mixed with 50% antifreeze.

Dosage: For straight water applications, add 2 fl. oz. of Coolant Boost per quart of tap or softened water. For 50/50 coolant/water applications, add 1 fl . oz. of Coolant Boost per quart of 50/50 mix.

Frequency: In applications using Coolant Boost with straight water, drain and re-fill the coolant system and add Coolant Boost once per year or when indicated by color change. A distinctive pH color change indicates when the pH has fallen to a point where corrosion can set in. When the Coolant Boost/water mixture changes from pink to clear, another dosage of Coolant Boost should be added. Monitoring the pH level will ensure all vital areas of the cooling system are protected against corrosion.

In applications using Coolant Boost with 50/50 coolant/water mixtures, add Coolant Boost once per year or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Follow coolant manufacturer recommendations for coolant change intervals.

Product Description
The Marine Dual Remote Filtration System (BMK18) offers easily accessible remote mounting capability for a full-flow spin-on oil filter and a spin-on by-pass oil filter. This unique combination of both full-flow and by-pass filtration on a single mounting manifold is the only system of this kind designed specifically for marine applications.

Improved Performance
The effects of marine engines running predominantly at or near full throttle after extended periods of non-activity include high operating temperatures and increased potential for wear on engine components. Dual remote filtration is a highly efficient filtering process capable of removing the vast majority of particles in the 5-20 micron range; those that cause the most wear. Dual remote filtration also has the ability to effectively remove particles down to one micron in size. The AMSOIL Marine Dual Remote Filtration System (BMK18) offers a clear advantage by providing better oil filtration, increased oil capacity and longer oil and filter life.

Reduces Heat
The BMK18 requires a one- to two-quart oil volume increase, offering increased oil cooling capabilities. The additional hoses, fittings, filters and aluminum mount assemblies also allow the engine oil to dissipate heat more efficiently as it passes through the filtration system, extending the service life of both the engine and the engine oil..

Outstanding Durability
The Marine Dual Remote Filtration System is designed to be used in harsh marine environments. The hose fittings are coated with a 3 ml layer of Alumiplate™ and 1 ml of zinc and yellow chromate. This Alumiplate coating is 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard zinc and yellow chromate plated fittings. While standard hydraulic fittings typically survive 96 hours in the grueling ASTM B-117 Salt Spray Test, the Alumiplate-coated AMSOIL Marine By-Pass System fittings lasted over 1,000 hours. In addition, the fasteners and mounting bracket are stainless steel and the hoses are U.S. Coast Guard approved.

Fewer Oil Changes
Depending on the boat owner’s hours of use, the improved filtration of the Marine Dual Remote System, along with the use of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants, could completely eliminate oil and filter changes during a typical boating season. With marine engines located in a relatively confined and remote space within the watercraft, ease of filter access and reduced oil spillage are also significant benefits of the BMK18.

Applications
A large number of marine diesel engines have by-pass oil filtration systems installed by the engine manufacturer. Until now, however, this technology has not been available to smaller pleasure boats and light commercial marine applications. The AMSOIL Marine Dual Remote Filtration System was specifically designed for recreational and commercial marine applications that use inboard or inboard/outboard stern drive engines.

The BMK18 is packaged in kit form, which includes the Dual filter mount, mounting hardware, hoses, hose fittings, component parts and installation instructions. In addition, adapter kits of four different sizes enable the BMK18 to be installed on a wide variety of recreational and light commercial marine gasoline-fueled engines, including those manufactured by Chris Craft, Chrysler, Crusader, Evinrude, Johnson, Gray Marine, Mercruiser, OMC, Pleasurecraft, Universal, Volvo Penta and Westerbeke.

The BMK18 kit offers a new heavy-duty, machined aluminum adapter and retaining nut that fits on the existing oil filter mount. Each adapter kit is application specific and must be ordered separately. Consult the Marine Dual Remote Application Guide (G2051) or www.amsoil.com for specific applications. Adapter kits are available for the most popular filter thread sizes. When ordering the BMK18, request one of the following adapter kits:

• BK195 for 3⁄4″ x 16 thread
• BK196 for 13⁄16″ x 16 thread

Team AMSOIL Takes Checkered Flag in Sarasota

Team AMSOIL offshore racers Bob Teague and Paul Whittier competed at the Superboat Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix on Fourth of July weekend in Sarasota, Fla. Following 100 miles of testing in the calmer-than-normal Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, the conditions for Sunday’s race were much rougher.

When the green flag dropped, Team AMSOIL got stuck in traffic going into the first turn, allowing the new Stihl 388 boat to take the early lead before engaging in a close deck-to-deck battle with Team AMSOIL. Team AMSOIL caught and passed Team Stihl and extended its lead to about 11 seconds before being slowed by lapped traffic. While Team Stihl came within a boat length heading into the final outside turn, Team AMSOIL hit a large rogue wave which caused the boat to hook violently and end up on the wrong side of the turn buoy. Team AMSOIL was then forced to go back and “make up” the turn, allowing Team Stihl to cross the finish line first. However, post race inspections revealed Team Stihl’s propellers did not meet the required specifications for thickness, disqualifying them and awarding Team AMSOIL the checkered flag.

Team AMSOIL will next compete July 16-18 at the OPA/Geico race in Harrison Township, Mich.

What Boat Will Probably Be Perfect For Your Requirements?

Discovering the appropriate vessel for your use involves a good deal of distinct considerations. You can find so lots of aspects to purchasing a watercraft, that getting the suitable watercraft can become a incredibly engaging occupation.

The key factors which you really should choose upon while receiving the correct motorboat for your use are listed below. Be certain on your purpose of acquiring the motorboat. Boats are of different types, depending upon the functionality that the yachts are put in. Some boats are specially made for sailing in quite water and some are made for the sea. So, believe in which you might be going to use your vessel one of the most. Are you acquiring the boat for spending family time on water, or do you want to use your fishing boat exclusively for sailing? Some yachts are specially made for water sports and some boats are developed specifically for offshore sailing. Ahead of discovering the correct vessel, decide on the use or uses that you just are going to have while using watercraft.

The geography of the water way where you would be sailing is an essential consideration just before ordering the motorboat. Various water-bodies have unique peculiarities. Your fishing boat should be able to accommodate these peculiarities in its stride. Also, think about the prevailing wind directions, water depth and tide strength just before choosing the appropriate fishing boat. Should you be looking for florida boats you’ll be able to expect year-around boating conditions, but if you’re purchasing boats in northern regions, you should make adjustments. The next obvious step to obtaining the correct fishing boat is to investigate the watercraft specifications. The size and experience of the boat are vital aspects. Look for critical details like the storage space, the engine room, the variety of fuel, the sort of engine, the safety features and other specifications.

Check out the accessories attached while using fishing boat and investigate whether they are functioning well or not. Boat survey. Arranging for a fishing boat survey may be a great decision.

You’ll find some quite useful analytical approaches to judge a fishing boat. Examine the following from the survey result. The length-to beam ratio (LOA divided by maximum beam length). This will give you an concept of the space available on the boat. For small yachts the suitable variety is 2.8 to 3.2. For larger yachts the perfect value-range is 3.6 to 4.0. The speed-length ratio. This ratio might be utilised for traditional speed estimates for displacement hulls. It’s helpful to remember that you will need to have extra power to drive the watercraft at extra than its hull speed. The sail area to displacement ratio:

This can be perhaps one of the most essential of all of the calculations. Higher ratios imply better potential performance. Displacement to length ratio: This non-dimensional ratio can provide you with an concept about the accelerating capacity of the motorboat. Yachts with lower values of this ratio, will accelerate quicker than others. A bunch of new and experienced watercraft buyers tend to wonder exactly where to uncover beneficial offers for buying a vessel, how to discover them and just like motor cars, when is the finest time to obtain. Most experts tend to advise on getting throughout off-season for a good deal, specially as it tends to be a ‘sellers market’ when there’s a big demand, commonly while in the begin of the boating season.

A whole lot of buyers find that watercraft shows are where to obtain beneficial deals for purchasing a vessel. This really is further endorsed by the President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, using the winter fishing boat shows providing probably the most value for capital. In colder areas, a whole lot of superior discounts might be discovered at fishing boat shows through the peak of the boating season. In sunnier climes though, off-season understandably doesn’t exist, so the clincher tends to be finding a very good deal on older utilised models as they’re often getting replaced by new yachts on a regular basis by dealers and the like. From the current economic climate, you can obtain lots of a excellent deal on yachts that happen to be repossessed.

Though not a pleasant circumstance, the dollars saving that will probably be made will probably be noticeable when comparing against what you could have paid. Repossessed boats are often discovered at auctions rather than dealers, but even then, different things need to be noted when considering purchasing a repossessed watercraft. When buying a car at auction, it isn’t constantly easy to see if the boat is ideally suited to you and all of the specifications checked, especially when you don’t have much time to browse all which is obtainable there. It is specifically crucial as auction boats are nearly always “sold as seen”, so do believe about this whenever you contemplate in which to locate superior discounts for purchasing a fishing boat. For those wishing to obtain a put to use fishing boat, you do not always will need to obtain to an auction or dealer.

Classified advertisements in motorboat magazines, newspapers and on-line too as specialised websites for yachts are full of beneficial deals that can save you money and return a nice automobile to you. Don’t forget about the websites which are specialized on regional advertising. For anyone who is shopping for florida boats investigate out www.boats-florida.com. Dealerships are always an excellent place as to in which to come across beneficial deals for buying a fishing boat. Though it shall be worth bearing in mind that some sort of maintenance will happen to be carried out on it to attract a sale and that the dealer’s own expenses might improve the sale price of the re-conditioned watercraft.
